Create your admin password This account can see everyone's pay. Numbers are fine — just make it eight or more and not something on your truck. How often do you run payroll?

Every two weeks 26 pay periods a year, always the same weekday. Twice a month 1st–15th and 16th–end. Most states set payment deadlines for these. Weekly 52 pay periods a year.

What day does your workweek start?

Worth getting right the first time. Your workweek decides where the 40-hour overtime line falls and when a seventh straight day starts paying premium, where your state has one. What matters is that it's fixed and known — but changing it later moves that line for every week you've already recorded. If you already run payroll somewhere, use the same day they have.
